Two players playing against each other on one rink. Usually 4 bowls each, with the first to 21 shots being the winner.

 Sometimes there are 2 Wood Singles competitions, where the winner is decided over 21 ends. 

In Internal Club Competitions, the person whose name is first/on top of the competition sheet has to arrange for a marker from the Club’s list of Markers, or another competent person. This is also the case for County Singles Competitions.
