We are all aware of the adverse weather and the affect this will have had on the greens and greens maintenance. The first month or so that the greens are in use is the critical period and sets the way they will play for the rest of the season.  As a result, in order to avoid creating runs, excessive wear and damage, when the greens open we will be following the same procedures as last year.

This means that PUSHERS MUST NOT BE USED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE and all roll-ups are to be played on the TOP GREEN ONLY (Note - no roll ups at all 13-21 April).
It is also important that when playing, the mats are moved frequently, not just by a foot but by at least a yard. This is to spread the wear in the mat area more evenly.

Please understand that these decisions are not taken lightly but, like last year, they are to ensure that we have greens of the highest standard possible throughout the season.

Thank you for your cooperation.

John McKenzie, Greens Manager
On behalf of the whole greens crew

BOTTOM GREEN - Rink 1 closed (running North/South) or Rink 1 closed when running East/West. This is due to areas being re seeded and are now germinating.
Due to the extremely wet weather conditions over the past weeks, no Roll Ups are to be played on the Bottom Green until further notice - sorry

TOP GREEN - Rink 7 closed (running North/South) or Rink 12 closed when running East/West. This is due to areas being re seeded and are now germinating.
Due to the extremely wet weather conditions over the past weeks, no Roll Ups are to be played on the Top Green until 22 April - sorry
Roll Ups will be allowed on the Top Green as soon as it is possible to do so.

The whiteboard on the outside of the Pavillion will also show which greens/rinks are closed.

Before coming to the club for a roll up (even one that you have already booked using BOWLR) please check this daily Greens Status in case any rinks or entire greens have been closed first thing in the morning due to weather conditions, greens maintenance, over wear, damage from natural intruders, etc. If your original rink booking is no longer available please choose another rink that is open.

Our Greens Team work exceptionally hard with our contractors (Avon Sportsground Maintenance) to keep the greens open and in tip top condition, but they also have to take into consideration resting overtired rinks in order to allow the grass to recover. Otherwise long term damage may occur which will have a devastating effect on our ability to play at our best.

Please respect the Greens Manager's decision
Anyone found playing on a closed rink/green will be reported to the AEC

Greens opening times
10.00 Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday
11.00 Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
